Sunday Musings
Bingethon 2020: Black romance movies.
It’s been a super challenging, emotional and unpredictable time so it’s always good to unwind with a good book, tv show or movie to help you escape and lately I have found a huge comfort in watching BET made for Tv movies that were adapted from the Arabesque novels in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I have never even heard of any of these movies but have fallen in love watching them on the Reelblack Youtube channel. Some of my favorites are Fire and Ice starring Kadeem Hardison and Lark Voorhies, Commitments with Allen Payne and Victoria Dillard, Private Affairs with Vanessa Bell Calloway and Clifton Powell. I have quite a few more to go but I have to say these movies are such great comfort food for me and as a hopeless romantic they definitely inspire me. I hope you check them out and let them warm you in times of cold fear or inspire you in times of loss perspective. Happy Sunday, folks. Keep God in your heart and mind and joy in your soul.
Sunday Blessings
Happy Sunday to everyone. During this current era of panic, uncertainty and tension it’s extra important to celebrate the reminders of good in the world. Like the progress of where we are with Covid 19 versus where we were months ago and during all this tension with the police versus the people it was great to see an officer at QT take the time out of his day to help a brother get a jump for his car. Little things like that reminds me that there still are good people out there to balance the bad or evil ones and it also reminds me that there’s always hope for better. So I’m wishing everyone a wonderful holy day today and a hopefully holy week this week as we continue to progress psychologically, emotionally, physically, Intellectually and spiritually. Much love, and keep the peace.
Grateful for Progress
August is a fresh start so trust God and trust progress.
There’s been alot of chaos these past four months both personally and universally but don’t forget to be grateful for the progress we’ve seen since this whole mess started. We have come a long way despite what the sensationalists and greedy news or super negative no faith having people want you to believe. I know it’s hard but if you believe in our Lord and trust him then you have to try to keep that faith strong and remind yourself of where we are now. Now we have a medicine to help combat Corona when before we had nothing, now we have masks to wear out there which I know gives me a bit more security then when this started and it was wayyyy more dangerous going out into the world, now we have real fight for racial equality not seen since the sixties when before we didn’t when it came to Police brutality. Now we have successful vaccine trials that will hopefully be fully formed sooner than they’re saying when we had nothing before. Now we’ve had time to mourn and live life again after losing loved ones this year when before we were right in the middle of such tragic losses. What I’m saying is that God does not give us more than we can handle and I know that’s being constantly tested these days but I do believe he balances out the hardships with really positive good things like what I mentioned before and the fact that in many ways we’ve come together as a world more now than we did since 2016. So keep the faith and don’t let all the crazy stuff you hear get you down because God’s got this.
